Welcome to Marine Leadership Academy, Chicago's only wall to wall USMC JROTC program. We are a college preparatory 7-12 school with a Level 1 Ranking in CPS. We prepare leaders in mind, body and character through a program that combines the JROTC model with a rigorous academic program. We offer many Advanced Placement and Dual Credit courses, extracurricular activities, and supports for all students. Erin Galfer is the Principal at Marine Leadership Academy. She works diligently to ensure that every classroom has the best teachers, the resources necessary for success, and systems in place for all students to learn.
Erin began her career as a member of the 1999 Teach for America corps in Raymondville, TX, where she taught middle school math. She then taught for three years at Roberto Clemente Community Academy in Chicago before attending Harvard Graduate School of Education for her Master’s Degree. She was then placed at Chicago Academy High School as part of the New Leaders for New Schools program in 2005. Erin spent nine years at Chicago Academy leading the school to 1:1 technology integration and on a trajectory to Level 1. Chicago Academy was recognized three times during her tenure for making “Real Change” for the students of Chicago, and Erin earned accolades for her work around improving ACT scores, scholarship funding and college entrance.
Erin is currently the Principal at Marine Leadership Academy, a Level 1 school. She also serves on CPS's Principal Advisory Council. She is committed to CPS and the City of Chicago. She lives with her husband and two daughters in Old Town.
